At the second year anniversary address of the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun MFR clarified that his Administration is not limiting the focus on infrastructure to roads alone, but including a multi-modal transport system, energy and housing. He stated that his Administration has reconstructed 270km of 34 roads, rehabilitated 322km of 41 roads and worked mildly on 600km of others.
In terms of social wellbeing, he said his Administration has prioritised security and health by invigorating the State Security Trust Fund, creating intervention taskforces in security emergencies,and revisiting the health sector. As at the time of the Governor’s address, he said his Administration has reviewed upwards health workers salaries, provided health insurance to 7,800 of the workers and recruited 300 in the ongoing exercise.
On investment in the education sector, the Governor, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun MFR stated that the local and international laurels won by the learners and teachers in the state in the past two years has shown his Administration investment in the education sector. He stated that his Administration has promoted deserving teaching and non teaching staff, increase schools running costs by 120%, renovated about 1,800 classroom units , returned MAPOLY and TASCE back to functionality, and are currently recruiting 5,000 teachers in the OgunTEACh Scheme.
The Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun MFR led Administration has not left the youth behind since the youth are the foundation for the future his Administration is building, his Administration has also created a functional platform, the Ogun job Portal, for their connection with employing private sector actors as well as government’s schemes, including the Ogun Youth Empowerment Scheme, OG-YES and CBN’s Anchor Borrowers Programme.
The Governor also reiterated his Administration commitment in ensuring food security by facilitating funding to mostly youth farmers, providing input and linkage , winning sitting of AFDB’s Special Agro-Industrial processing Zone, SAPZ, among others.
He said these remarkable steps are accompanied by massive reforms in the public service, tax and revenue systems, and business policies, and they have jointly earned his administration awards from independent bodies. The Governor said thus
“We will not let these appreciated awards get to our heads; instead, we will do more towards a better anniversary in 2022, for God and people.”
