The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Senator Femi Gbajabiamila, has addressed the issue of the use of social media, he said it must be regulated, so that the ‘evil’ attached to it won’t take root in Nigeria.
He said, it’s something that we need to carry out because we are responsible to the protection of every single person in this country and which is what we must do.
The National Assembly has been considering the regulation of the use of social media for so long, but had to pend it due to the cries from the citizens.
He said that social media is a strong weapon for good and evil, though he acknowledged the good side of the platforms.
While talking on Mr Speaker Chat With Young Nigerians on Channels TV, he disclosed all about social media, which pose a question mark on Twitter Ban.
Don’t forget that on June 4, the government placed a ban on the use of the microblogging platform, Twitter, which was an announcement that came after Twitter removed the tweet of President Buhari.
Though, the lower legislative chamber, had put a committee together, to look deeply into the ban placed on the use of Twitter, and they had a public hearing on the matter, the last Tuesday, and it was reported that some members are in support of the ban.
