The Executive Governor of Lagos State, his Excellency Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu went to inspect the evacuation and rescue efforts being made by the workers at the scene of Collapsed Building in Ikoyi Lagos State.
The Governor stated that every second counts at this crucial period and his racing against time in the rescue bid.
He cut short his official trip to the G-20 Summit in Rome to immediately visit the site around midnight.
On the appointment of panel to probe the incident, the Governor stated thus; “I have also appointed a six-man independent investigation team that will be led by the President of the Nigeria Institute of Town Planners, Mr. Toyin Ayinde to probe the immediate cause of the Collapsed building. The panel has 30 days to summit its report.
“While Mr. Ayinde will lead the panel, Mr Ekundayo Onajobi will be the secretary, Other members of the panel are a structural engineer, Dr. Akuntilo Idris Adeleke; an architect, Yinka Ogundairo; representative of Institute of Builders, Mr. Ibrahim, a property lawyer.”
The Governor promised to be open and thorough in the investigation of the the reason behind the Collapsed building. He said “The panel will find out who the culprits are.”
The Governor also condones with the families and loved ones of everyone who lost their lives, he said there are no words to express his deep sadness.
He later reassure the families of those who are still missing, to bear with the government as they work to ensure everyone is out and all hands are on deck to see that the rescue efforts progress.
