Adekunle Ajasin University Students Union ably led by Comrade Ogunsanmi Kolade Olumide (Multiple) has released a press statement addressing the claim of Nigeria Union of Campus Journalist Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko Ondo State Chapter over the Students Protest.
Recalled that AAUA Management led by the University Vice Chancellor Professor Olugbenga Ige had made a policy of No School Fee, No Exam, this led to the Protest of AAUA students which started on Sunday 21st November, 2021.
The Protest escalated on Monday 22nd November 2021 where some students (Protesters) were reportedly seen vandalising properties.
NUCJ AAUA Chapter had shifted the blame of Protest escalation to AAUASUG led by Comrade Ogunsanmi Kolade Olumide (Multiple) saying: “For a proactive Student Union, efforts would have come in full swing without pausing to watch the flow of managerial tides.”
“Rather than keep mum or offer pacifying statements, the Union chose to distance themselves from the students’ agitation, making the students ride on like a flock without Shepherd.”
The students Union Government of AAUA ably led by Comrade Ogunsanmi Kolade Olumide (Multiple) in the statement released Titled, RE: AAUA PROTEST: THE ROLE OF THE SU, WHERE AND HOW THINGS WENT WRONG, has replied the allegations leveled against them by saying thus: “For the record, the leadership of AAUA Students’ Union brilliantly employed the consultation and the consolidation stages sequentially embedded in the 3Cs of Aluta and successfully had the reversal ( in the interest of Students) of the decision of the University management on no school fee, no examination’ policy. The recourse to, therefore, resort to confrontation becomes unnecessary.”
The AAUASUG claimed that all students constituencies (the three arms of AAUASU, All Faculty Presidents and Departmental Presidents) were carried along the processes and are well-informed about all the decisions made in a stakeholders meeting held on 16th November 2021. Also the meeting where resolution was made with the Vice Chancellor, Professor Olugbenga Ige.
AAUA Students Union has urge NUCJ AAUA Chapter to withdraw their misinforming editorial within next 24hours, counting from the time the rejoinder was released, to avert the wrath of the Students Union. Advising the body to save herself from the dwindling integrity she has imposed on herself.
